Ten Fatally Injured In Paramilitary Accident In India

Aircraft Went Down On Takeoff From New Delhi

A chartered paramilitary Super King Air belonging to India's Border Security Force with 10 people on board went down Tuesday on takeoff from Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi, India, resulting in the fatal injury of all on board.

The Voice of America reports that an official said that the pilot may have been experiencing a mechanical issue with the airplane and was attempting to abort the takeoff. It was flying from New Delhi to Ranchi in the eastern portion of the country.

Witnesses said the plane impacted a boundary wall at the airport, and part of the plane went into a small body of water and sank, according to Deutsche Welle. A post-impact fire ensued, and some workers on the ground were injured.

The passengers on board the plane were all Indian military engineers, according to DW.

The passengers were traveling to Ranchi to work on a helicopter, according to the report.
