The GrandNew Enters The Chilean Helicopter Market

First Of Its Type To Be Based In Santiago del Chile

The GrandNew light twin helicopter has entered the Chilean helicopter market with the purchase of one aircraft by Naviera Mistral SA based in Santiago del Chile. This helicopter, which is scheduled to be delivered to its customer within this year, will be used to perform VIP/corporate transport missions.

This order marks the addition of a GrandNew to the previously delivered Grand aircraft operated by a private customer in Chile and expands the presence of AgustaWestland light helicopters with one AW119Ke for VIP transport and four AW109 Powers already in service with the Carabineros de Chile plus one recently ordered to perform law enforcement missions.

The GrandNew features the most modern developments in avionics while retaining the Grand’s outstanding performance and features. The GrandNew is the first type certified light twin (CS/JAR/FAR 27) to enter service with a new EFIS featuring Synthetic Vision and the first helicopter in this class on the market fully compliant with the latest advanced global positioning system-based navigation requirements for all weather operations. The large cabin and baggage bay combined with its performance and advanced avionics suite make the GrandNew the ideal helicopter for a wide range of roles. The GrandNew offers operators unprecedented abilities to exploit the advantages of a helicopter.

The new customer will also benefit from an AgustaWestland Authorized Service Center which is being established by the independent sales representative AVIASUR to provide maintenance and other support services from its modern facility at Santiago’s Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport.

Orders for more than 300 helicopters from the Grand series have been placed by over 180 customers in almost 40 countries worldwide, in order to perform many tasks including VIP/corporate and passenger transport, EMS, SAR, electronic newsgathering, harbour pilot shuttle, maritime patrol and water pollution monitoring.
