Giant Fly-In This Sunday, Fantasy of Flight

Florida's Great Flying Museum Hosting Florida Pilots

Fantasy of Flight, The World’s Greatest Aircraft Collection, will host the 2nd Annual FloridaPilot.com Fly-In Sunday March 16, 2003 starting at 7AM.

Over 100 aircraft are expected, with over 400 people in attendance. Pilots will fly in from the southeastern United States to view the World’s Largest Aircraft Collection within the Fantasy of Flight Aviation Attraction. In addition, two flying examples of restored WWII bombers will be on display at Fantasy of Flight during the event. Aircraft attending the gathering will include new aircraft, antique, World War II and homebuilt.

One chance this year to fly into special place...

This special event is open to the public, starting at 9AM. Information for pilots can be found on the website. If you get lost, call 863-984-3500 for more information. If you're not using the gorgeous turf runway or seaplane pond, you can drive -- it's about halfway between Orlando and Tampa, just off I-4, at exit 44.

Kermit Weeks's own special collection is there, of course; and if you've never seen it, you owe it to yourself. Wonderful restorations, aircraft from before WWI to the post-WWII era (including the biggest Connie ever built) are on display or under restoration. You've never seen an Allison W-24? How about an original Wright Brothers flying engine? They're on display -- and don't forget all the fun of the fly-in, outdoors!
