Rockwell Collins Announces Engineer And Inventor Of The Year Awards

Seven Employees Honored

Seven Rockwell Collins employees were honored for their outstanding excellence in engineering and innovation at the fourth annual Rockwell Collins Engineer of the Year celebration on Feb. 27 in Herndon, VA.

All seven were presented with the Arthur A. Collins Award, which recognizes engineers and scientists demonstrating outstanding technical service to the company, their profession and the community at large. Criteria include individual performance, contributions to the company and other technical and professional contributions.

“These engineers represent Rockwell Collins’ commitment to developing new and innovative technologies that provide value for our customers,” said Rockwell Collins Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Clay Jones. “We are proud of their success and are thankful for their contributions.”

Those presented with Engineer of the Year awards were: David A. Miller, Commercial Systems, of Swisher, Iowa; Robert B. Wood, Commercial Systems, of Beaverton, Ore.; Christopher J. Swanke, Government Systems, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Tony L. Johnson, Government Systems, of Mount Vernon, Iowa; Phillip J. Rezin, Engineering and Technology, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Douglas O. Pauls, Operations, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Rockwell Collins 2004 Inventor of the Year Award was presented to Timothy E. Snodgrass, Government Systems, of Palo, Iowa. Snodgrass was recognized for developing intellectual property that has proven to be integral to the success of current and future product lines. Snodgrass joined Rockwell Collins in 1981. He is originally from Palmdale, CA, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the California Polytechnic State University.

Miller has been with the company since 1990. Originally from Davenport, Iowa, he holds Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics and computer science from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Science degree in systems engineering from Iowa State University.

Wood started with Flight Dynamics in 1979. He is a native of Merion, PA, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Princeton University and a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of California.

Swanke joined Rockwell Collins in 1985. He is originally from Ladysmith, WI, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

Johnson, a native of Keosauqua, IA, started with Rockwell Collins in 1989. He holds an Associate degree in electronic engineering technology from Hawkeye Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering from Iowa State University.

Rezin joined the company in 1993. Originally from Lindenhurst, IL, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the University of Illinois.

Pauls started with Rockwell Collins in 2000 and is a native of Mazomanie, WI. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and physics from Carthage College in Kenosha, WI, and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
