Daughter Flies As Co-Pilot On Dad's Retirement Flight

Kathryn Woodruffe Following In Her Father's Footsteps

When David Woodruffe made his last flight for British Airways Thursday, he had a person very special to him in the right seat of the airplane ... his daughter Kathryn, who is also a pilot for BA.

The two flew a transatlantic route from New York City to Heathrow Airport.

Fox News reports that it is not the first time they two have been assigned to the same flight by BA. Overall, they have flown about a dozen times together in their respective careers for the carrier. Kathryn said that they always remain "100 percent professional" when they're on the job, but the bond they have between them has helped when they fly together.

Kathryn Woodruffe is a senior first officer for BA who caught the flying bug at age 12. She said she was honored to be the co-pilot on her dad's final flight.

David Woodruffe, 64, joined BA in 1984. He said he was sorry to be leaving the airline after so many years, but is glad that Kathryn will continue the Woodruffe legacy at the airline.
