FAA Issues STC Approval To Textron For Bell 407GX Products

Includes Expanded Instrument Panel, Installation Kit

The FAA has issued supplemental type certification (STC) approval to Bell Helicopter for its Bell 407GX expanded instrument panel and L-3 Wescam MX-10 quick mount installation kit. The newly certified products are available through Bell Helicopter’s Aeronautical Accessories brand.

The expanded instrument panel replaces the standard option and has additional panel area for a wider range of equipment locations. Through the unique design and layout of the larger panel, a third monitor and other mission-related equipment can be installed in front of the copilot.

The new L-3 Wescam Mx-10 quick mount installation kit enables quick and easy installation of an L-3 Wescam MX-10 camera (not included). The camera can be belly-mounted aft of the lower wire strike cutter, using a dovetail quick mount. Controlled by a cockpit mounted hand control, the kit also includes a laser interlock. Installation or removal of the camera turret may be accomplished in minutes once the kit has been installed. The kit includes the necessary installation components, flight manual supplement and complete installation and maintenance instructions.

“The Bell Helicopter team worked closely with customers to solicit their input in the design of these products,” said Jennifer Lunceford, manager of Sales, Aeronautical Accessories. “The result is two innovative products that help customers meet specific mission requirements.”
