Boeing Confirms Acceptance of 7E7 Orders In 2004

Dreamliner Should Be On Flightlines in 2008

Boeing Commercial Aircraft says it will start taking orders for the much-anticipated 7E7 Dreamliner early next year. If the company's board of directors gives the go-ahead at the end of this year, deliveries should begin sometime in 2008, according to Boeing CEO Phil Condit.

Still In Configuration

Boeing officials said in a release to ANN last week that they're still deciding whether the Dreamliner will offer 200 or 250 seats. That decision should come before the end of 2003.

The 7E7 is, according to financial analysts familiar with the aviation industry, critical to the future of America's leading commercial aircraft maker. The 7E7 is designed to offer operators a 20-percent savings on operating costs. Eventually, Boeing hopes airlines retiring 757s and 767s will turn to the Dreamliner as a replacement.
