What's This? A Free Trip To Toronto?

City Officials Trying to Dispel SARS Fears

So I'm sitting here in my home office, writing today's Aero-News, and sweating like a pig. I live in Dallas (TX) and my air conditioning is out. The geniuses at the company that fixes air conditioners told me Friday, "Gee, sorry, we don't have the part. See ya Monday, we hope!"

Oh, to be somewhere cool.

Oh, to be away from this keyboard and watching a baseball game or taking in a club or three.

Oh, Canada.

Toronto requests the pleasure of your company. And in large part, it's either free or very cheap. If you can fly out of New York, Montreal or Ottawa, Jetsgo will give give you a free ride to Toronto. Luxury hotels have dropped their fees to just $99 CA for some of their best rooms. A cheap seat at a Blue Jays game costs less than $1.00 CA.

Banishing The Ghosts Of SARS

Toronto, you see, was on the World Health Organizations list of cities most affected by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Now that the WHO has cleared Toronto, the city and its businesses are trying to make up for lost tourist dollars.

It is the high season there and the WHO SARS warning crippled the town's tourist economy. So, Jetsgo, Canada's newest no-frills airline, is offering a thousand free tickets over the next two weekends. For the rest of us (Dallas. No AC, remember?) Jetsgo is offering lowered fares. Now that SARS has been banished from Toronto, the city is working hard to banish the ghosts of that deadly illness.
