General Dynamics Appoints Smith As President Of Jet Aviation

Succeeds Daniel Clare, Who Will Be Moving To Gulfsteam As CFO

Robert E. Smith has been appointed as president of Jet Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dyamics, reporting to Joseph T. Lombardo, executive vice president of the company's Aerospace group. Smith succeeds Daniel G. Clare, who has been appointed chief financial officer of Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., also a subsidiary. The appointments are effective January 1, 2014.

Smith has been the vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of Jet Aviation, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, since July 2012, responsible for oversight of all financial functions. Previously he was vice president and CFO of General Dynamics NASSCO, a San Diego-based shipbuilding, maintenance and repair company.  Smith joined General Dynamics at its Electric Boat subsidiary in 1989.

Clare has been president of Jet Aviation since July 2011, responsible for oversight of the company's business aviation services operations worldwide.  Clare joined Jet Aviation from Gulfstream. He succeeds Jason W. Aiken, who has been named senior vice president and CFO for General Dynamics.

In announcing the appointments Lombardo said, "Rob Smith has been an instrumental part of the management team at Jet Aviation since his arrival and I am confident that, under his leadership, the company will continue to differentiate itself through the quality of the products and services it delivers to customers."

"Dan Clare has demonstrated his commitment to the success of General Dynamics' aerospace companies over time, and we look forward to continuing to benefit from his experience in his new role at Gulfstream," Lombardo said.
