New documents have come to light indicating one of the most famous men in history, U.S. President John F. Kennedy, learned to fly at an Embry-Riddle seaplane base in Miami during World War II. The training took place over 10 days in 1944.

Makes Private Jet Company Europe's Largest Operator Of The Model

A purchase agreement has been signed for a pre-owned Embraer Legacy 500 between the planemaker and U.K.-based private jet operator Centreline. The agreement was announced on the opening day of the 18th European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland. Delivery of this third Legacy 500 to Centreline is scheduled for August 2018.

Modifications Will Include FMS Upgrades And ADS-B Out Compliance

Field Aviation has been awarded a contract, through an open tender process, to upgrade the flight deck on the Swedish Coast Guard’s (Kustbevakningen) three Dash 8 aircraft. The upgrade includes installation of Field Aviation’s EFI-890R Flight Deck, Flight Management System (FMS) upgrades and other changes to make the aircraft ADS-B Out compliant.

JPSS-2 Satellite To Be Launched In 2021

NASA has exercised options for two additional Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) spacecraft to be built by the company. Orbital ATK is currently producing the JPSS-2 spacecraft, which is scheduled to be launched in 2021. All three satellites are to be operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide critical weather forecasting data and to advance environmental and oceanographic science. The total contract amount for all three spacecraft is valued at approximately $460 million.

First Retrofit Recently Completed By Embraer

Embraer recently completed its first retrofit of a Lineage 1000E business jet with Gogo AVANCE SCS Elite – the highly integrated cabin, inflight entertainment (IFE) and voice solution from Gogo Business Aviation. Earlier this year AVANCE SCS Elite was certified as baseline equipment on the Lineage 1000E.

ESA Spacecraft Will Begin Work On Mars In 2021

A representative model of the ExoMars rover that will land on Mars in 2021 is beginning a demanding test campaign that will ensure it can survive the rigours of launch and landing, as well as operations under the environmental conditions of Mars.
