Marvin Young Appointed To U.S. Air Force Scientific Advisory Board

Aerojet Rocketdyne VP Of Engineering Joins Committee That Provides Technical And Scientific Advice

Marvin Young, Vice President of Engineering at Aerojet Rocketdyne, has been sworn in as a member of the U.S. Air Force Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

"I'm humbled by the opportunity to be selected as a member of this prestigious committee," said Dr. Young. "I'm confident that I will be able to leverage my technical knowledge to help advance the development and application of the most promising technologies for the U.S. Air Force."

Dr. Young joined Aerojet Rocketdyne in 1985 and has held the position of vice president of Engineering at Aerojet Rocketdyne since 1998. Throughout his tenure with the company, he has overseen the development of rocket propulsion systems that are used by the U.S. Air Force and other government agencies for defense and aerospace applications. He holds an Engineering degree from Stanford University, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.

In existence since 1944, the U.S. Air Force SAB is a federal advisory committee that provides independent advice on matters of science and technology relating to the Air Force mission. By conducting scientific studies and technical reviews, the SAB plays an important role in looking into the future to help identify and enable affordable technological pre-eminence for the U.S. Air Force and the nation.

Members of the SAB are appointed by the Secretary of Defense. They are selected from the nation's leaders in science, technology, engineering and technical program leadership from across the industry, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, national laboratories and academia.
