RAF Changes Location For August Weekend Fly-In

Also Closes Ryan Field, Both Due To Extreme Fire Danger

Due to fire and fire fighting efforts near Sullivan Lake (09S) The Recreational Aviation Foundation has changed the RAF Weekend to Cavanaugh Bay (66S) Priest Lake, Idaho. Join RAF WA State Liaison Dave Whitelaw August 12th and 13th at Cavanaugh Bay (66S).

The Whitelaw Brothers will be BBQing King Salmon on Saturday. If you're attending, you're asked to please bring your favorite side dish to share for the dinner such as a  salad, dessert, etc.

Camping is available at tent sites or under wing, and there are showers and water on the field. Six to Eight bicycles will be provided for pilots use, as well as a courtesy car. Boat and kayak rentals can be found  nearby. It's also a very short walk to lake shore, so bring your bathing suit and favorite floaty.

Nearby is the Cavanaugh Bay Resort with a full restaurant and bar, with deck overlooking the bay (not open for breakfast).

Note that the traffic pattern for the airport is right hand, and the standard 122.9 frequency will be in use.

Meanwhile, the extreme fire danger in and around Ryan Field 2MT1 has caused the RAF to temporarily close Ryan Field to any and all activity.  The association will let members know when the airstrip has been reopened.
