AD: Airbus Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2017-17-12

PRODUCT: All Airbus Model A310-203, - 221, -222, -304, -322, -324, and -325 airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY:  This AD was prompted by an evaluation by the design approval holder indicating that the wing bottom skin at the main landing gear (MLG) reinforcing plate is subject to widespread fatigue damage (WFD).

This AD requires a modification of the wing bottom skin at the MLG reinforcing plate.

DATES: This AD is effective October 2, 2017.

COST: The FAA estimates this AD affects 8 airplanes of U.S. registry. Compliance will require 52 work-hours × $85 per hour = $4,420 per unit
Necessary part will cost an estimated $12,000 for a total cost per airplane of $16,420 or $131,360 across the fleet.
