Korean Air Faces Fine Over Nut Rage

Heather Cho Berated A Flight Attendant For Serving Nuts In A Bag

Former Korean Air Executive Heather Cho's apology to a flight attendant and her resignation from her position as head of in-flight services may not be the end of a story that began with a flight attendant serving Cho nuts in a bag rather than on a plate on a flight getting ready to depart from New York to Inchon last week.

Ms Cho may also face legal charges, and the company could be fined the equivalent of $2 million for her outburst according to the Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC).

Cho was reported to Korean prosecutors after the event, and the South Korean Transport Ministry confirms that an investigation has been opened.

"As it has been confirmed that [Heather] Cho raised her voice and used abusive language as testified by some flight crew members and passengers, we will report her to the prosecution for potential violation of aviation safety law," the transport ministry said in a statement.

If the ministry determines that laws were broken, the airline could not only face the fine, but could have its flight suspended as an additional punitive measure.
