Diemech Turbines Overhauling Walter M601D/E in Florida

$35k for new installation, $18.5k to overhaul all but prop governor and fuel control

By ANN Correspondent Juan Jimenez

If you were wondering where you could get yourself a Walter 601D or 601E turboprop engine for your project and get service and overhauls as well, you need to contact Diemech Turbines, Inc.'s John Cook in  DeLand, Florida.

Diemech specializes in Walter 601D/E turbine repairs, parts, maintenance and sales, and also works on Avia Propeller sales and repairs. Should you decide that the smell of kerosene in the morning is an appealing aroma, Diemech will sell you a 601 for $35,000 with a fresh IRAN and a 1500 hour TBO.  Once the engine reaches the TBO, you can bring it back to them for an exchange or overhaul for $18,500, assuming that the engine is still in good condition.

Diemech can handle all maintenance on the engine except for the propeller governor and the fuel controller. These units, if in need of repair, must be sent to the Walter factory for service. Diemech maintains some spares for these units, but the cost of repair is determined solely by the factory.

Diemech will also overhaul your 601D or E if you bought it from someone else, for the same $18,500 price tag, assuming that the engine is in good condition and can be overhauled. Don't expect to get such a price if you had a prop strike or some similar incident, no matter how small. Diemech tells us that even a small prop strike can cause major damage to the internals of the engine.
