Over Fifty Stakeholders Voice Support For House T&I Committee Plan

The National Business Aviation Association has accompanied more than fifty other aviation stakeholders in voicing strong support for a bill being considered in the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee that would appropriate $15 billion to invest in crucial aviation infrastructure, air traffic control, and workforce development.

The Modern Skies coalition consisting of NBAA and aviation groups nationally and internationally as well as manufacturers, trade groups, and others, has stated emphatically that these investments are critical to ensuring the U.S. maintains its status as the world leader in aviation safety.

The coalition’s statement read in part, “As stakeholders from across the aviation industry, we have sounded the alarm for decades about the challenges created by aging technology and infrastructure, as well as the controller and technician staffing shortages. The committee’s approach is a much-needed downpayment on achieving these benefits for the Americans who fly and ship goods every day.”

Ed Bolen, President and CEO of NBAA sent a separate letter on behalf of the NBAA to Committee Chair Sam Graves (R-MO) and Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA) echoing the association’s staunch support for the House measure.

In his letter, Bolen wrote, “The wide-ranging benefits of business aviation in the U.S. are made possible only by our country’s ATC system infrastructure, dedicated workforce and continuous improvement based on data-driven safety initiatives.

"We commend the committee for recognizing the importance of improving ATC infrastructure and strengthening the controller workforce to improve safety and efficiency in the national airspace system.”
