Elon University to Host Drone Safety Seminar

North Carolina DOT Presents panels, Speakers on Future of Regulation

Elon University and the North Carolina Department of Transportation are jointly offering a free drone safety awareness and general information seminar to registrants on November 8, 2021. Elon Drone Day 2021 will be held in the Elon University School of Communications, from morning to early afternoon.

Keynote talks, panel discussions, and contributions cover a wide spectrum of commercial and public safety applications, from night operations, flight over populations, FAASTeam Ops and Maintenance, the TRUST program, Part 107 certification, drone-based delivery, educational implementation of UAS tech, public safety utility, and legal considerations.

Experts and professionals from business and government will take part in a panel featuring featuring personnel from Zipline International, Alamance County Emergency Management, 910 Drones, NCDOT, Vertograph, Choate Construction Company, and legal specialists Aviation Barristers. They will be assessing a number of questions and topics, with a planned focus on “What is autonomous?

Is drone delivery real?

What roles can education play in finding talent in the various UAV industries? How do drones assist the public safety sector? What legal concerns should we all be aware of when flying?”.

Elon Drone Day is open to commercial and recreational pilots and is free to all, with registration required. Each presentation will allow participants to speak with officials and offer Q&A sessions.
