First Annual Commercial Human Spaceflight Tech Forum Held

Special Aerospace Services Convened Spaceflight Experts In Boulder Last Week

An invitation-only, two-day forum, which featured more than 60 of the world's top aerospace experts, was held in Boulder, CO, late last week. The first "Commercial Human Spaceflight Technical Forum" was hosted by Special Aerospace Services, a woman-owned aerospace company committed to developing and providing innovative aerospace solutions to the aerospace industry, U.S. government agencies, Department of Defense, and the emerging commercial spaceflight sector.

The company said the forum presented a focused and concentrated technical agenda created for Commercial Human Spaceflight providers and NASA. Attendees gained insight to techniques that will be required to achieve the NASA human rating certification and FAA commercial spaceflight licensing. In addition, participants received training on international perspectives on human spaceflight, human factors, safety, and the implications of insurance and liability.

The forum hosted recognized and sought-after subject matter experts, including N. Wayne Hale Jr. , NASA's former Shuttle program director; Jeffrey Ashby , a former Shuttle commander; Dr. Alan Stern , NASA's former Associate Administrator for science; Jim Van Laak , Deputy Associate Administrator of the FAA for Commercial Space Transportation; Jim Oberg , of Soaring Hawk Productions, Inc.; Brett Alexander of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation; and Dr. Scott Parazynski , a decorated NASA astronaut.

"We are about to enter an exciting phase in human spaceflight," said Heather Bulk, CEO of Special Aerospace Services. "This is the first time that the leading commercial human spaceflight experts have come together to present a comprehensive training program for this rapidly evolving industry."

"What made this Forum unique was its comprehensive perspective on commercial human spaceflight," said Brett Alexander of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation. "The panel presentations generated high-level discussions by some of the top experts in the industry, and attendees were encouraged to participate in those conversations."
