SJ30-2 Can't Stop Generating Big Numbers

Fastest Light Business Jet Also Sets Record Pace In Sales

The world's fastest light business jet has reached yet another target in (potentially) record time. Sino Swearingen announced Friday they have exceeded 295 orders for their new SJ30-2 ultra high performance business jet.

"This is an absolutely incredible corporate jet with key performance VPR's (Value Price Ratios) exceeding every aircraft in this category in the world," said Gene Comfort, Senior VP for SSAC Sales and Marketing. "Orders are accelerating into the stratosphere with advanced performance numbers recently confirmed for the SJ30-2 that include; the world's Fastest Light Business Jet with a high cruise speed of 560 mph, 487 kts. (Mach .83) and the world's Longest Range Light Business Jet, at 2,888 sm."

Top speed and order count aren't the only high numbers being generated by the SJ30-2: according to a company release, those 295+ orders have generated a backlog revenue of over $1.5 billion. That's "billion."

As was reported recently in Aero-News, the SL30-2 has also recently met all target goals required for FAA certification. Sino Swearingen has finalized the certification process for November 27, 2005 at its international headquarters and manufacturing facilities in San Antonio, TX -- which means the majority of those orders, backed with signatures and non-refundable deposits, were gathered long before the aircraft was certified.

And that, according to the company, might be good enough for a record --  over 295 sales in less than 2.5 years prior to FAA Certification. Last month, the company averaged more than one sale a day.

"This incredible number of sales is amazing when you consider every sale was made prior to receiving the FAA Certification last week. Sales are so brisk that we increased our pre-FAA certification sales projections so many times that some goals were reached as we were revising them," said Comfort. "We were aware that the SJ30-2 and its ultra-high-performance levels would launch it as a world's best seller, but it was hard to imagine that it would happen this fast and the aircraft would achieve sales goals at this incredibly high level prior to obtaining the FAA certification."

The SJ30-2 will be prominently featured at next week's NBAA Conference in Orlando, FL. Two SJ30-2s will be flown in and placed at the static display, and a full-size mockup of the cockpit and interior will be featured at the company's indoor booth, number 2176. The FAA will also officially hand over the Type Certificate during an opening day ceremony.
