Comair RJ Makes Emergency Landing Due to Lav Fire

There are few things that get a pilot's heart pumping like the report of an on-board fire. Thursday night, a Comair RJ (file photo, below) was forced to make an emergency landing after a fire was reported in the lav.

Just 12 miles out of Rome, GA, when the fire was reported; the Comair crew elected to take advantage of a 6000 foot runway at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport (RMG) in Rome, executing a landing at 1950 EST. Thankfully, no injuries were reported among the 48 passengers or three crew (though their launderer may have something to say about that...). The Comair flight was enroute from Atlanta to Huntsville, Ala.

The FBI and NTSB are reportedly investigating.
