Textron Subsidiary Plans New Maintenance Training Facility

TRU Simulation + Training To Support Cessna And Beechcraft Airplanes

TRU Simulation + Training has announced plans to establish a new maintenance training facility for current model Cessna and Beechcraft aircraft. The facility will be located on the Textron Aviation Mid-Continent campus in Wichita, KS.

When completed, the existing space will be converted into a fully renovated training center equipped with state-of-the-art TRU Simulation + Training courseware and aircraft maintenance instruction, modern classrooms and a flight line hangar. In the new facility, Cessna and Beechcraft owners and operators will experience courses ranging from avionics initial theory to engine run and taxi for the different aircraft models and will train on a combination of actual aircraft and TRU Simulation + Training maintenance trainers.

Commented Kyle Crooks, vice president and general manager of Mission and Maintenance Training for TRU Simulation + Training, “We are excited to bring our vast maintenance training expertise, which has supported the U.S. military for decades, to Cessna and Beechcraft customers. This represents great value-added for customers purchasing Textron Aviation aircraft products.”

According to the project timeline, the new TRU Simulation + Training facility will be ready for Beechcraft maintenance training in January 2016 and for Cessna maintenance training in January 2017. Future plans include expanding the training offerings to include Cessna and Beechcraft models that are no longer in production.

TRU Simulation + Training was formed in April out of three legacy companies – Mechtronix Inc. and OPINICUS Corporation that were acquired by Textron late last year, and a portion of the former AAI Logistics & Technical Services. In July, the company announced the acquisition of ProFlight, an FAA-approved Part 142 training center specializing in Cessna Citation CJ and Conquest Series training.
