Flight Explorer, Blue Sky Partner Up With Tracking Solution

Flight Explorer®, the innovative and responsive provider of Internet-based real-time flight tracking and information systems, and Blue Sky Network, a pioneer in affordable, global satellite communication solutions for the aviation industry, have announced a partnership to provide worldwide satellite-based aircraft tracking. The announcement was made at the European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (EBACE 2003) conference in Geneva, Switzerland, last week.

Iridium-based

Blue Sky Network has developed a new Iridium-based solution, the BSN D-1000, with accompanying service. Blue Sky Network says it is "offering the most affordable and convenient way to transmit GPS positions, send and receive email, and report sensor data from an aircraft." In partnership with Flight Explorer, the BSN D-1000 network brings independent online flight tracking, the companies say, into "a whole new price range."

Blue Sky Network has developed an advanced network utilizing the Iridium Satellite system to provide communication technology in near real-time to and from an aircraft. From the ground, with only a personal computer and Internet access, users and others can use Flight Explorer to track aircraft equipped with the BSN D-1000. The BSN D-1000 solution ties easily in with Blue Sky Network’s other SATCOM voice products.

Customers who purchase the Blue Sky Network D-1000 communication equipment and service will, as part of the agreement, be provided with a web-based aircraft tracking and dynamic mapping capability powered by Flight Explorer. (For more-comprehensive flight tracking capabilities of both their Blue Sky Network-tracked aircraft as well as all other IFR air traffic in the US, Canada, the UK and New Zealand, customers can use Flight Explorer Professional, the company’s flagship product.)

Flight Explorer Professional’s comprehensive tracking and management capabilities include the ability to generate numerous alerts and log files of specific events, interface with other applications; determine the last known location of an aircraft; display graphical and textual TFRs and much more.
