Kaman, Sikorsky Sign MOA for Helicopter Production Support

Center Will Assemble Parts Of Sikorsky Helos

Aero-News has learned Kaman Corporation's Helicopters Segment will play a key role in future Sikorsky Black Hawk and Seahawk helicopter production under a three-year Memorandum of Agreement recently executed between Sikorsky Aircraft and Kaman.

Under terms of the agreement, Kaman will join a significant number of cabin, cockpit, tail cone and landing gear assemblies for UH-60L, MH-60S, and UH-60M Black Hawk and Seahawk helicopters. Work will be performed by Kaman's existing workforce of engineers, technicians, assemblers, and support personnel at HeliworX, the company's rotorcraft innovation and manufacturing support center in Bloomfield, CT.

The Black Hawk and Seahawk helicopters are in service with a range of customers worldwide, including the US Army and US Navy.

"This success underscores the dedication to quality and on-time delivery that Kaman is known for," said Sal Bordonaro, Helicopters Segment president. "We are proud to support Sikorsky and the war fighter and look forward to doing so for years to come."

With capabilities ranging from the manufacture of metallic and composite subassemblies to all-composite rotors, to airframe integration and installations, HeliworX brings a new level of competence to America's rotorcraft supply chain, Bordonaro said. "Prime contractors know they can count on Kaman to deliver the products they need and the quality they expect for a value-added solution."

HeliworX delivers military and commercial components and has the ability to design, test, certify, flight test and deliver complete helicopters, major assemblies, complex components, subassemblies, and detail parts. Customers of the Kaman unit include The Boeing Company, MDHI, Northrop Grumman, AgustaWestland, and the US Government.
