Maybe Not A Dirty Job, Unless It's Your Airplane
Are your airplane payments up to date? Are you sure? Then you're
not likely to get a visit from repo man Nick Popovich ... with a
camera crew in trail.
The producer of such popular
shows as "American Choppers" (sorry, that's motorcycles) "Dirty
Jobs" and "Ghost Hunters" is developing a new reality series to
follow Popovich as he travels the world repossessing expensive
items, mostly airplanes and helicopters, according to Variety.
Popovich, who's business specializes in big-ticket items, has
repoed aircraft as large as a 747, which was bought by a small
airline in Scandinavia that apparently couldn't afford it.
Producer Crain Piligian told Reality TV World in the case of the
747, for instance, "He has to figure out how to get past airline
security and grab the plane. He plans it like a military operation.
Sometimes he's in disguise. Often it gets a little hairy."
No word on how TSA might feel about that.
Piligian told the online publication the job is not without its
hazards. He said Popovich has been held at gun point by security
teams and even spent some time behind bars for repo jobs gone
wrong. Popovich has been in the repo business 30 years, and his
staff includes 65 so called "super repos" who deal in high priced
items. Their clients are often large banks such as Credit Suisse
and Citibank, which can pay nearly $1 million for a big ticket
repossession.
So check and be sure your
payments are up to date. That way you won't see your airplane
flying away in living color on your television set.
