Middle East Conference To Discuss A380

Huge Impact Expected

Dubai Consultancy Research and Media Centre (DCRMC) and Jane's Information Group announced plans to host the Middle East Aviation Conference September 18-19, 2005. The conference will discuss 'The Impact of the A380 on the Middle East' with international speakers and decision makers.

The event is expected to bring leaders in aviation technology, airport development, tourism and travel to Dubai along with people working directly on how to deal with the world's largest airliner. The event, held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, will discuss the challenges and opportunities that the A380 will bring.

"The impact of these aircraft on the Middle East will be hugely significant," said Ahmed Al Mansoori, President of DCRMC, in a statement. "With each aircraft capable of bringing 525 passengers into the country several times a day, it's not just the airports that have to consider how to cope, travel and tourism operators will be equally affected," he added.

Emirates Airlines has placed the largest order for the big jet so far, with 41 passenger jets, two freighters, and ten options. Qatar and Etihad Airways have also placed orders.

Dubai and the UAE hope to become a major tourism and transit destination with Emirates Airlines flights starting in 2006, so the conference will also discuss implications for cargo business, ground handling services, safety and security.
