New Aircraft to Fly the Tokyo-NYC Route

Japan Airlines (JAL) has accepted its first A350-1000 from the Airbus delivery center in Toulouse, France.

The new addition will join the line of JAL's premier international aircraft flying the Tokyo Haneda - New York JFK route. The new plane sports a 4-class layout that "has been designed to make passengers immerse in the elegance of Japanese aesthetics and tranquility," with a "serene ambiance that highlights the beauty of Japan." First class, befitting the cost, offers 6 suites with a choice of sofa/seat/bed mode throughout the flight. Business Class also offers Suites, with 54 seats and privacy doors. Premium Economy Class (at 24 seats) and Economy Class (at 155 seats) both offer "more personal space and comfort in their respective categories".

The aircraft is the first 0f 31 A350s on order by JAL, with 18 of them the A350-900, and 13 of them A350-1000s. The carrier has been operating the A350-900 on high density Japanese domestic routes since 2019, but its new -1000s will be able to enjoy their careers touring the world.

Coinciding with their new aircraft, JAL has published plans for its future schedule along the Tokyo-New York route, starting service on January 24, 2024. Once the second -1000 is delivered, the carrier will begin daily flights. That one is expected to be delivered by the end of March 2024. Finally, one more -1000 is on tap to be delivered, which will be put onto the route between Tokyo and Dallas Fort Worth, Texas.
