Aero-News Alert: The D-Jet Is Coming To Oshkosh

AirVenture To Host Public Unveiling Of Diamond's Jet

Aero-News has learned that Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc. will debut its newest product, the single-engine D-Jet, at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2006.

The five-passenger D-Jet represents Diamond's impending entry into the burgeoning marketplace of very light jets (VLJs), which offers individuals and businesses jet transportation at acquisition and operating costs lower than those associated with traditional corporate jets.

"A hallmark of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is its emphasis on innovation and the introduction of new products in aviation. We're delighted to present the first public showcase of the D-Jet as it enters a VLJ marketplace that is drawing considerable attention from the aviation community," said EAA President and AirVenture chairman Tom Poberezny.

Aero-News was the first to bring our readers news of the D-Jet's maiden flight on April 18... and after several subsequent flight-performance tests, the Diamond team is eager to unveil its latest accomplishment.

"The D-Jet complements our strong line of aircraft in terms of its solid handling characteristics, simplicity of operation, comfort, and quality finish. During my test flights, I was thoroughly impressed by the D-Jet's performance and feel. It is everything you would expect in a personal jet," said Diamond Aircraft CEO Christian Dries.

Throughout the week of AirVenture, the Diamond exhibit will include a mock-up D-Jet cabin, giving visitors an up-close view and a foretaste of the jet's passenger offerings. Representatives of Diamond will also be on hand to discuss the D-Jet's state-of-the-art features.

On Wednesday, July 26, the D-Jet will arrive and taxi onto AeroShell Square, where Diamond executives will conduct a 10:30 a.m. briefing for AirVenture attendees. Later that afternoon, at approximately 2:00 pm, the Diamond Jet will provide a flight demonstration as a prelude to the air show.

"We look forward to publicly showcasing our latest achievement for the first time at AirVenture and sharing with the industry our excitement and prospects for the D-Jet," Dries (below) said.

Later that afternoon, at approximately 2 pm, the D-Jet will provide a flight demonstration as a prelude to the air show.

The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration will take place at Wittman Field July 24-30.
