Dassault Takes Photo-Op Through Death Valley

Falcon 8X Tackles Infamous Fighter Cruising Point - Star Wars Canyon

Dassault has released their newest promotion for the Falcon 8X trijet showing the preparation and flight through an infamous photo location in Death Valley, California.

The production is an uncommon example of aircraft advertising done right, showing snippets of the photogenic Falcon cruising through Rainbow Canyon. The "Star Wars" canyon is a frequent haunt for photographers enjoying the rare opportunity to shoot aircraft sprinting below them, as they watch from atop the 1,000-foot high rim. With nearby Navy and USAF training locations, the canyon is a recognizable attraction for aviation nerds, and a solid way to create some wallpaper-worthy shots of Dassault's "Ultra-long range advanced business jet. Their footage, rendered in an unfortunately rare 2160P or 4K, demonstrates the capability of the high-performance business jet.

In order to undertake the flight, Dassault enlisted the assistance of Flight Safety, pre-flying the mission in the simulator, working out the moving parts of the route, and squaring things away to make sure the footage came out perfect. Ultimately, the aircraft made 20 passes through the canyon, making sure they made the most of their authorization and camera crew. The unit that assisted brought in CineJet, a frequent specialist for similar camera work in the region that offers in-flight aviation photography. The full promo video has been uploaded on the manufacturer's Youtube, though additional footage will undoubtedly arise through future Dassault releases.
