Aero-TV: Trig Avionic'S TN70 -- Raising The ADS-B Bar, AND Keeping Costs Down

Uber-Compact Trig Solutions Continue to Evolve

While at EAA AirVenture 2014, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell stopped by the Trig Avionics display to find out what they’re doing about ADS-B installations. Campbell meets up with Trig Avionics CEO, Andy Davis, to talk about the Trig TN70 GPS receiver, and other Trig products.

According to Davis, the TN70 GPS receiver is a stand-alone unit that does not need to interface with any existing avionics, other than the transponder, to provide ADS-B Out capability. He points out that some airplanes already have navigation systems that do a great job navigating, but are not TSO’d for ADS-B purposes. In other cases, instrument panel space may be limited, or the airplane owner does not want to install a completely new GPS navigation system just to comply with the ADS-B Out requirements.

Campbell asked how this product can be applied to the everyday aviator that is looking at upgrading to meet the ADS-B Out mandate. In the video, Davis offers numerous examples of how their equipment can lead to a cafeteria style of equipment selection to reach the most economical solution. He also furnishes some insight as to the future of Trig avionics and how they will fit in to the growing avionics market.

If you’re still trying to figure out a solution to becoming ADS-B compliant, this video can provide some important information.
