Spectrum Aeromed Completes Installation Of LOX System Under STC

First Application In Life Flight Network PC-12 Elevates Patient Care

Life Flight Network, in collaboration with Spectrum Aeromed, announced the installation of a liquid oxygen system (LOX) in a new Life Flight Network Pilatus PC-12 aircraft to be used for patient transport.

The project is the first of its kind for this oxygen configuration under a Supplemental Type Certification approved by the FAA for Spectrum Aeromed’s modification of this aircraft. The first LOX-capable PC-12 was delivered on September 27.

Life Flight and Spectrum have a long-standing partnership built around Spectrum’s ability to deliver high-quality innovative air ambulance equipment accompanied by customized installations. This achievement benefits Life Flight’s critical patients requiring oxygen during extended air transports. Spectrum’s space-saving design also maximizes efficiency without compromising oxygen capacity, different from previous methods for in-flight oxygen provision.

Casey Seckel, chief clinical officer at Life Flight Network said, "This collaboration with Spectrum Aeromed exemplifies our unwavering dedication to continuously improving the level of care we provide to our patients. The addition of liquid oxygen capabilities in our Pilatus PC-12 aircraft marks a significant milestone in our mission to serve communities across the region, allowing for extended duration of use, and greater portability and accessibility. The addition of this resource more than triples the carrying capacity for oxygen, a vital resource for our critically ill and injured patients."

Life Flight Network intends to modify its entire PC-12 fleet with the LOX system in coming months and years. Community support for this endeavor is welcomed through the Life Flight Network Fouindation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2009 to provide critical financial support for its mission services.
