Gulfstream Completes Georgia Expansion

85-Jet Home Base Gets Even Bigger as Gulfstream Market Grows

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation says it's finished its expansion of the newly enlarged Customer Support service center at Savannah, Georgia's Hilton Head International Airport.

The new Savannah Service Center East is open for business, offering more than 200 new jobs with 'significantly' expanded capacity for maintenance, repair and overhaul. The opening was attended by a handful of state and local dignitaries, community partners, and Gulfstream family for a short ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially dedicate the new space.

“We continue to expand and enhance our service capabilities in support of the continued growth of Gulfstream’s next-generation fleet including the recently certified G700,” said Derek Zimmerman, president, Gulfstream Customer Support.

“The Savannah Service Center East expansion is part of our long-term strategic plan to create the industry’s most modern and sustainable service network, while significantly enhancing access and convenience for our customers.”

The new expansion cost the brand about $150 million while adding about 367,000 square feet of workspace. The new location adds to the East side of the airfield, with all new hangar space, offices, and workshops. All in all, the location sports more than 1.1 million square feet of work space, which includes the capacity for more than 85 Gulfstream aircraft on the premises simultaneously.

Gulfstream has already applied for Silver certification under the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)'s program. To get the cert, Gulfstream recycled at least 75% of construction waste, while building in a host of sustainable features like energy-efficient lighting, enhanced control systems for heating and cooling, optimized energy performance, low-emitting building materials, water-saving fixtures, electric vehicle charging stations and preferred parking for low-emission vehicles.

“Savannah, home to Gulfstream’s worldwide headquarters, is now our largest global service center location - this expansion ensures our dedicated team is equipped with the resources needed to further support our customers who are visiting this great city from around the world,” said Zimmerman.
