Allied Aviation, IAMAW Reach A New Collective Agreement

Labor Minister Leitch Congratulates Both Parties

Allied Aviation Service Company of Newfoundland, ULC has reached a new collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Transportation District 140.

The agreement was reached with assistance from Canada's Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.

"I commend Allied Aviation and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for reaching an agreement that will benefit everyone," said The Honorable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, P.C., O.Ont., M.P., Minister of Labor and Minister of Status of Women. "Strong labor-management relations favour both parties and benefit the overall economy."

Allied Aviation Service Company of Newfoundland, ULC, is a provider of aircraft maintenance services in Newfoundland and Labrador. The company provides the following services at the Gander International Airport: aircraft de-icing, equipment maintenance, passenger services, aircraft cleaning services, ground services and construction project management.

The collective agreement covering all ground service personnel employed at the Gander International Airport expired on October 31, 2014.
