Fiji Airways Purchases Three Viking Series 400 Twin Otters

Will Fly As Regional Commuters On Domestic Routes

Viking Air Limited of Victoria, BC, Canada and Fiji Airways, of Nadi, Fiji, have signed an agreement for three Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft for use as regional commuters servicing Fiji Airways’ domestic routes throughout the island nation. An option for one additional aircraft will also accompany the deal.

The Series 400 Twin Otters are scheduled for delivery between October 2017 and February 2018, and will be added to Fiji Airways’ existing fleet of three legacy Twin Otter aircraft based at Nadi International Airport. Fiji Airways has been operating Twin Otter aircraft for over ten years, and as Fiji’s National Airline, is strategically placed to expand the Twin Otter Series 400’s presence in the region.

Mr. Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways Group Managing Director and CEO commented: “The Twin Otter remains the aircraft of choice for our subsidiary Fiji Link’s operations to most of Fiji’s smaller airports. The Series 400 is a definite step up for our expanded Twin Otter fleet, and will allow us to increase capacity to key Fijian destinations. Customers and crew alike can look forward to enhanced comfort and operating systems on their flights.”

The Series 400 Twin Otters will be delivered as standard land planes in 19-passenger configuration, and equipped with Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-34 turbine engines and Honeywell Primus Apex fully integrated digital IFR avionics suite.

“The team at Fiji Airways exude consummate professionalism and have been a pleasure to deal with from the outset,” said Peter Walker, Viking’s International Sales Director for Africa, Middle East & Asia Pacific. He added, “We’re thrilled to be working with such an esteemed airline, and are looking forward to future possibilities as Fiji Airways expand their Twin Otter fleet.”
