'Tis The Season: HBC Donates $50,000 To Wichita Children's Home

Planemaker Has Given Facility Close To $500K Over Last Five Years

Hawker Beechcraft donated $50,000 to the Wichita Children's Home during a special ceremony Wednesday. HBC Chairman and CEO Jim Schuster presented the check to Sarah Robinson, Executive Director of the Wichita Children's Home.

Continuing the tradition of giving during the holidays, HBC and its employees have donated nearly $500,000 in cash and in-kind donations to the Wichita Children's Home over the last five years.

"We value the dedication and work of the Wichita Children's Home for helping children who find themselves in situations beyond their control," Schuster said. "This donation from HBC and our employees shows our appreciation for their efforts to make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children."

The Children's Home is Wichita's oldest charitable institution. It was founded in August, 1888, as the city's first orphanage for the support and care of destitute and homeless children. In addition to the $50,000, HBC supplier Rockwell Collins generously donated another $10,000 to the Home.

"It is amazing to see the continued commitment of Hawker Beechcraft and its employees," Robinson said. "The generosity of HBC employees means we can continue supporting the thousands of children that walk through our doors each year."
