Naval Warfare Center Takes Delivery Of UTD Sim

First Of Three From TRU Simulation For Multi-Engine Training

TRU Simulation + Training Inc. announced the acceptance of the first of three Unit Training Device simulators by the Naval Air Warfare Center – Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) under the Multi-Engine Training System (METS) Ground Based Training System contract.

In addition, in a recent contract modification the NAWCTSD exercised options to upgrade two UTDs and added four additional Operational Flight Trainers or OFTs as well as support services.

TRU Simulation is an affiliate of Textron Aviation and designs, manufactures, and delivers high-fidelity training devices and full-motion sims for defense and civil customers.

Jerry Messaris, Vice President and General Manager for TRU Simulation said, "At TRU, we are proud to support the METS GBTS mission of providing an intermediate and advanced training platform for U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard aviators.

“Our on-time delivery of the first UTD reinforces TRU’s commitment to delivering innovative and reliable solutions to meet our customers’ evolving needs. TRU Simulation is eager to continue our history of building high-fidelity devices to support critical missions."

The base contract was for three UTD simulators in a King Air 260 standard commercial configuration for fixed-wing flight training, one OFT sim in the METS T-54A configuration for dynamic flight training, one simulator support station for the METS T-54A, and 21 Desktop Trainers for classroom avionics training.

TRU will also provide device instructor and maintenance training, spares, and Contractor Logistics Services to support the devices in Corpus Christi, Texas. Deliveries are expected to continue through 2026.
