In this video we have the pleasure of meeting, J.J. Frigge, the Executive Vice President for Hartzell Propeller, and we receive a personal guided tour of the Hartzell production facility.
The Hartzell Propeller Company goes back to the early days of aviation when they were innovators in airplane propeller research and development. The spirit of those days has not been lost on the modern company.
The video takes us through the production process of Hartzell propellers that are found on some of the highest performance propeller-driven airplanes. Hartzell produces their propellers through a process they call, "Cellular Manufacturing," and Frigge gives us a look at how that's accomplished.
While this sort of manufacturing could be considered a type of production line, it's not the type of line where a product starts at a primary source and continues along in an uninterrupted process. Each production cell is designed to produce the component that then moves towards the final assembly process.
