EADS Socata Offers Internships For 'Young Eagles'

College Students Offered Chance To Experience Aircraft Production

College students from Illinois and Wisconsin will have a first-hand look at EADS Socata’s aircraft design, manufacturing and support operations during an internship organized in cooperation with the Experimental Aircraft Association’s "Young Eagles" program.

Named as the 2008 Young Eagles scholarship winners are Margaret A. Viola, a student in Physics and Chinese at the University of Chicago; and Matthew J. Woodruff, a student at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and a private pilot.

Their selection was announced this week at Lakeland 2008 by Nicolas Chabbert, President of EADS Socata North America, and Elissa Lines, Vice-President Business Development of Experimental Aircraft Association.

“We’re pleased to have selected two high-profile aviation enthusiasts for this year’s program, and I look forward to seeing them at our factory in France,” said Nicolas Chabbert, President of EADS Socata North America.

At the completion of their six-week internship at EADS Socata’s Tarbes, France, headquarters facility, Viola and Woodruff will outline their experience at the Gathering of Eagles Dinner, to be held this July during the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture show at Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to provide first-hand general aviation experience for young people. This activity is offered free of charge, and is made possible by the generosity of EAA members, its volunteers and corporations.
