US Aviation Academy Partners with Avelo Airlines

Classroom to Cockpit (or Maintenance Bay) Direct

Avelo Airlines (formerly Casino Express Airlines and Xtra Airways), the Texas-based ultra-low-cost air-carrier, has partnered with US Aviation Academy (USAA) to create career pathways by which students at the academy may progress—via accelerated curricula and special training programs—to flight-crew and maintenance technician positions with the airline.

USAA and Avelo espouse the common goal of inculcating safe, responsible, and effective pilots and maintenance technicians whose qualifications and certification derive of an industry-leading training program. The airline and school respectively and concordantly seek to support aviation-minded students in the successful completion of their training, and the commencement of their careers.

USAA CEO Mike Sykes states: “US Aviation is proud to partner with Avelo Airlines to make pilots’ and mechanics’ dreams come true.”

Avelo Airlines head of flight operations Scott Hall adds: “We are always looking for great crewmembers at Avelo, including pilots and technicians. USAA has an impressive track record of developing exceptional aviation professionals. We are excited to be collaborating with USAA to help create this pathway to opportunity for these aspiring aviation professionals.”

Avelo’s fleet of ten Boeing 737 NG aircraft currently serves thirty destinations from bases in Burbank, Connecticut, and Orlando. The addition of USAA to its existing portfolio of pilot recruiting partners furthers Avelo’s plans to aggressively grow its brand, employee base, fleet, and route-structure. The airline is currently accepting applications for SIC positions. Interested parties are invited to visit Avelo’s website.

Since 2006, US Aviation Academy’s Part 141 approved, accelerated flight-training programs have enable students to earn their Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, and Certified Flight Instructor certificates at locations in Denton (DTO), Fort Worth (AFW), Conroe (CXO), Cape Girardeau (CGI) and Poughkeepsie (POU). USAA’s training fleet comprises over 120 Cessna, Piper, and Beechcraft aircraft. The school added a Part 147 airframe and powerplant mechanic program in 2021.
