Diamond Aircraft DA62 Receives EASA Certification

Aircraft Went From Idea To Final Certification In 42 Months

Diamond Aircraft has received EASA type certification for its newest twin engine aircraft, the DA62. EASA Executive Director Patrick Ky personally handed over the type certificate to Christian Dries, Diamond Aircraft CEO, at AERO Friedrichshafen on April 16.

Diamond Aircraft brought the DA62 from an idea to final certification in just three and a half years.

The all-composite DA62 is powered by two 180hp AE330 Jet-A piston engines from Austro Engines burning under six gallons per hour per engine at 160kt. The aircraft is available in two different configurations. The 4,400 pound MTOM version can accommodate five persons, while the 5,070 pound MTOM type is able to carry seven passengers.  The basic configurations for both airplanes is the same, and they can be up- or down-graded according to the customer’s needs.

The DA62 was introduced for the first time with a completely new look at AERO Friedrichshafen. By changing the production process for this aircraft any paint or color scheme can be chosen.

With a top speed of 201 kts and a maximum range of 1,314 nm, a spacious cabin and solid flight characteristics, the DA62 is the perfect choice for private owners, air taxi companies and corporate operators.

The DA62 order book was formerly opened at AERO Friedrichshafen, and twelve units have already been sold.
