Airborne 05.13.15: NBAA Fights NY Slot Restrictions, XCOR Lynx, Wright Fight

The FAA is proposing to limit the number of unscheduled flight operations at three airports serving the New York metropolitan area, and the NBAA is not happy.

NBAA contends implementation of the new rules will negatively impact a broad range of aviation operations that have not been shown to cause any delays or congestion at these airports. XCOR Aerospace takes another step forward as they have now bonded the XCOR Lynx Mark I strakes to the Lynx spacecraft fuselage. XCOR Chief Technology Officer Jeff Greason said that with the strakes bonded to Lynx, “we have an open path toward the integration of a number of subsystems, and this means we will now start electrical wiring, plumbing, installing the control system, and populating the landing gear bays.” The state of Connecticut Legislature officially recognized their citizen, Gustav Whitehead, as the first person to make a controlled flight in a heavier than air powered aircraft two years before the Wright Brothers. The National Aviation Heritage Alliance, known as NAHA, and the Ohio State Legislature disagree with Connecticut’s action. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
