New Catalog Resource For Warbird Community

The North American warbird community will soon be better connected with the help of a dynamic reference guide. In February 2005, Wendee DeBusk and Peter Moll are launching a bi-annual resource directory for warbird-related businesses. Warbird Resource Directory is a one-of-a-kind reference book that identifies a multitude of warbird disciplines to help to connect the dots in this expansive and individualistic group.

Since becoming involved with the management of the National Warbird Operator Conference (NWOC) several years ago, DeBusk, a publisher, realized NWOC each attendee knew a few vendors and other resources, but there was no single integrated resource to tie them all together. DeBusk approached former EAA Warbirds of America Executive Director and current-Cannon Aviation Insurance Branch Manager Moll to develop a publication that would encourage dialogue within the industry and also serve as an extension of NWOC. The first edition will be available at NWOC in Seattle scheduled for February 24, 2005.

"Warbird Resource Directory will blanket the market and reach more than 12,000 owners, operators, maintenance technicians and enthusiasts in the United States and Canada," says DeBusk. "Our goal is to hit every warbird-related mail box, conference and air show in an effort to unite an important group that is committed to preserving historical aviation artifacts for future generations."

This bi-annual directory will be published each spring and fall and is the only printed book solely devoted to everything warbird. It includes thousands of products and services such as engine rebuilders, airframe restorers, tool suppliers, component manufacturers, repair facilities, book and video vendors, and pilot supplies. In addition, each publication will differentiate itself by featuring noteworthy warbird artists from around the world on its cover.

The spring 2005 edition will feature the artwork of R.T. Foster. Foster, who served 2 1/2 tours in Vietnam, is dedicated to aviation history and pays tribute to his experiences through his art and his work with aviation organizations. His paintings are displayed in aviation museums across the United States, including the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, San Diego Aerospace Museum and the American Airpower Heritage Museum.
