Myrtle Beach Airport Gets AIP Grant For Taxiway Project

More Than $25.3 Million Awarded For Phase 1 Of The Upgrades

The Horry County Department of Airports has been awarded $25,376,813 by the FAA to commence the first phase of major taxiway rehabilitation project at the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR).

Horry County Department of Airports, manager and operator of the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) has been awarded $25,376,813 by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The funds were awarded under Grant #3-45-0065-059-2018 for a project named “MYR Taxiway A Pavement Rehabilitation.” The funding awarded under this grant will cover the majority of the $30,000,000 cost associated with Phase 1 of MYR’s multiphase taxiway project.

“In 2015 the rehabilitation of the Myrtle Beach International Airport’s 9,503 foot long runway was completed,” said Scott Van Moppes, director of airports. “In late 2018, the Airport will begin a multiyear, multiphase project of rehabilitating its airfield taxiway system. This important taxiway project, in addition to the runway rehabilitation, will keep our airport in compliance with FAA standards while preparing MYR for more continued aircraft operational growth in the years to come. Horry County Department of Airports would like to thank the FAA for funding this important project.”
