AD: The Boeing Company Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-10-02

PRODUCT: All The Boeing Company Model 787-8 airplanes.

ACTION: Final rule; request for comments.

SUMMARY: This AD requires inspecting the part number of the occupant restraint system on the standard attendant seats, and doing additional inspections and corrective actions if necessary.

This AD was prompted by a report of loose attachment bolts on the occupant restraint system on a standard attendant seat due to the bolts being over-torqued during production.

DATES: This AD is effective May 29, 2018. Comments must be received by June 25, 2018.

COST: The FAA estimates the following costs for compliance with this AD:

  • Inspection for part number (P/N) - $85 per aircraft for one hour labor.
  • Inspection of affected attendant seats - $170 per aircraft for two hours labor.
  • Rework - $170 per aircraft for two hours labor.
