Two Fatally Injured In Helicopter Accident In Argentina

Aircraft Was Working For The MTV Production 'The Challenge'

A Bell 206 helicopter working on the joint MTV/Bunim-Murray Productions program "The Challenge" went down Saturday in a lake in Argentina, resulting in the fatal injury of both people on board the aircraft.

The Associated Press reports that, according to the Telam state news agency, Gianni Vernier, security minister for Mendoza province said the aircraft went down in the reservoir at Potrerillos de Mendoza dam about 620 miles northwest of Buenos Aires. A pilot and a technician, the only people on board the helicopter, were fatally injured in the accident.

In a statement, MTV said that the aircraft was flying to a shooting location when the accident occurred.

Vernier said that searchers have been unable to recover the remains of the two on board because the aircraft sank nearly 200 feet to the bottom of the reservoir.

Last March, two helicopters working on the TV survivalist show "Dropped" were involved in a mid-air collision in northwestern Argentina resulting in the fatal injury of all 10 people on board both aircraft.
