AD: Airbus Helicopters

AD NUMBER: 2020-02-23

PRODUCT: Certain Airbus Helicopters Model AS350B, AS350BA, AS350B1, AS350B2, AS350B3, AS350C, AS350D, A350D1, AS355E, AS355F, AS355F1, AS355F2, AS355N, and AS355NP helicopters.

ACTION: Final rule; request for comments.

SUMMARY: This AD requires repetitive inspections of the installation of the pull cables on the emergency float kits.

This AD was prompted by the results of an accident investigation and subsequent reports of difficulty pulling the emergency float kit float activation handle installed on the pilot cyclic

DATES: This AD is effective February 28, 2020. The FAA must receive comments on this AD by March 30, 2020.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 71 helicopters of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

  • Inspection 3 work-hours × $85 per hour = $255 per inspection per helicopter.
