Jeppesen, Honeywell Introduce Cloud-Based Navigation Service

New Integrated Navigation Data Service Improves Delivery Of Database Updates

Jeppesen and Honeywell Aerospace have introduced the Integrated Navigation Data Service (INDS) Data Manager for Windows, a new cloud-based database update delivery service.

The INDS Data Manager (IDM) service eliminates physical delivery of update media and simplifies the overall data update process. The new IDM service is designed for aircraft equipped with Honeywell Primus Epic Integrated Navigation (INAV) or Primus Apex avionics. IDM is provided at
no additional cost for data subscribers. IDM support for Primus Elite and Control Display System/Retrofit (CDSR) series avionics will be available in the near future.

“The new IDM for Windows from Jeppesen and Honeywell will simplify the data downloading process to increase efficiency for operators and enhance the preflight routine,” said Mike Abbott, director, Jeppesen navigation and flight deck programs. “The IDM interface for Windows is intuitive, and with a secure network the application provides pilots and flight departments with quick access to critical data updates anywhere in the world.”

The IDM tool provides instant access to chart serial numbers, which eliminates the need to request temporary access codes and reduces pilot workload. The service also features an improved capability to pause and resume data downloads for additional convenience and is designed to support future enhancements such as a potential wireless data loading interface.

“Honeywell develops some of the industry’s most advanced flight decks for business aircraft, and the new IDM solution will provide a similar level of service for delivery of critical flight data,” said Steve Kersh, senior director, Aerospace Services, Honeywell Aerospace. “Eliminating the need for shipment of physical media ensures quick delivery of critical flight data updates, reduces the potential for errors and improves the user experience. IDM provides an improved database update experience for business aviation operators using Honeywell avionics.”

The Windows-based IDM solution provides easy access to subscription service information, advanced filtering and auto-login functionality. It features an intuitive, user-friendly design and functionality with an optimized workflow experience. Overall, Honeywell and Jeppesen provide a suite of worldwide navigation information for Honeywell’s Primus Epic INAV, Primus Apex, Primus Elite and CDSR series avionics systems.
