Whistleblower Claims FAA Is Censoring His Blog

FAA Says Accessing The Blog Is An "Unauthorized Use Of FAA Internet Resources"

In an e-mail sent to ANN, blogger Daivd Pardo says his blog "FAA Lawyer Whistleblower" has been blocked by the FAA as "an unauthorized use of FAA Internet Resources."

The FAA, like many private companies, has a policy preventing employees from visiting certain web sties "which fall into certain categories not considered necessary for conducting agency business." The FAA, again like many private companies, blocks access to such sites through software.

Pardo, who was an attorney for the FAA, was fired from his job in Sepember he says at least partly because he kept a blog disclosing what he called violations of law and abuses by FAA officials at the Office of Chief Counsel. That blog is now blocked by the FAA under the category "FAA Additional Blocked Sites; Content Servers." Prado provided a redacted screen shot of the message an FAA employee received when trying to access his blog.

Prado says on the blog "I guess I hit a nerve with management."

The automated message does say that if someone has a a need to access the site for business purposes, they should contact the FAA's national or local help desk. The screenshot can be seen on Prado's blog.
