Airborne 03.17.14: Done Deal-Beech Bought, Aspen's New Glass, NextGen GA Fund

Also: Red Rocket!, BendixKing Adds Connectivity, True Blue Power, NEW TBM 900

The most common advice you hear from financial counselors is to have a diversified investment portfolio, and it looks like Textron has been listening to this advice.

The deed is finally done, and for now, the Cessna, Beechcraft, and Hawker names will continue to live on ... under the Textron umbrella. Up until now, the problem with installing a glass panel primary flight display (PFD) in a simple VFR airplane is that the PFD can cost as much as the airplane. Now Aspen Avionics has changed that. Aspen has developed the first certified glass panel PFD built specifically for VFR pilots. The Aspen EFD1000 VFR PFD combines situational awareness and safety into a single-flat panel liquid crystal display that can be easily upgraded to a fully IFR-capable Evolution Pro PFD. Not being able to get online when you really need it is maddening, but now BendixKing has found a way for general aviation aircraft to get online whenever they want to. BendixKing has unveiled the AeroWave 100, a high-speed in-flight Internet solution. BendixKing says the AeroWave 100 system offers, affordable in-flight Internet to GA aircraft. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
