Also: Inspiration4 Still Inspires, Blues/TBirds/Snowbirds!, Hot Air Balloon Pilot, United Fined

GE's new, clean-sheet turboprop engine broke new ground Thursday, making its first successful flight on a King Air test bed.

Flying out of Berlin Airport, the 1 hour and 40 minute jaunt added another important milestone to the design's continued development. To date, 16 test engines have racked up over 2,600 hours of operation in ground tests and appear on track to continue a streak of promising performance. Dubbed "Catalyst", the engine will find its first home in launch customer Textron's (Cessna) Denali for further testing. Virgin Galactic has announced the outcome of an FAA inquiry into an airspace deviation during the Unity 22 Test flight on July 11, 2021. The FAA has accepted the company’s proposed corrective actions to prevent future issues during the aircraft’s re-entry phase. The next test flight, Unity 23, is expected to take flight Mid-October in conjunction with the Italian Air Force. The Inquiry began in response to Unity 22’s momentary airspace incursion during the reentry phase of its July flight. Unity 22 was the over-hyped mission that allowed Richard Branson to finally take a flight aboard the spaceplane. Talk about learning a lesson the hard way..  a US Army Soldier and his instructor that was escorted out of restricted air space last week by US fighter jets over NYC. They were violating without knowing  a TFR put in place for the duration of the United Nations General Assembly. The Army instructor and student flew a Cessna 182 owned by the US Military Academy at West Point momentarily into the TFR area over the Hudson River. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
