Aero-TV: Avilution Expands General Aviation Presence

Delivering a Customizable Experience to the Modern Cockpit

Since its launch in 2015, Avilution has focused on integrating advanced computing technology into its avionics. Initially serving the Air Force and Army, the company is now making strides in General Aviation to target the unique needs that standard products overlook.

The Avilution eXtensible Flight System (XFS) is catching up with the modern computing environment by providing a phone-like avionics experience. It is a vendor agnostic with unified data buses for redundancy, allowing each design to be accommodated for different sizes and shapes of panels and cockpits. Data from source codes and tests are shared with the customer to allow on-the-spot updates.

Mark Spencer, Avilution's founder, stated, “Our specialty is where the requirements are unique, or they’re changing, or you might not even know what the requirements are going to be at the beginning.”

New Avilution creations were showcased at the 2024 EAA Oshkosh Airventure. The panels ranged from long and skinny to big and stubby, but all ran on the same system. This demonstrated the product’s flexible elements that can’t always be found waiting on the shelf of a major avionics manufacturer.

Avilution aims to provide a straightforward experience for pilots, making cooked-to-order avionics more accessible to General Aviation.
